Actually for three nights we were satisfied with our stay here. After several minutes of trying to find us something else available (and being told that certain rooms were being held for reservations in the morning) we were accommodated. We asked for a different room mainly because of the blinds and no curtains (no privacy). We arrived very late, and they tried to give us a room that looked like it was still being renovated - blinds that didn't fit the windows, curtain rod propped behind the door, but no curtains, nails in the wall above both beds, but no pictures. Bathroom was tiny - barely enough clearance to close the door without hitting the toilet bowl. Carpet seemed to have been freshly shampooed. The hotel was VERY clean, but furniture was outdated (like what you might see at a garage sale - beat up, old, table legs not steady), but all was functional. The beginning of the stay was great actually, and I was going to write a good review before it took a turn for the worse. We found this hotel online, and read mixed reviews, but decided to stay because of the location and the cheap price we found. On our fourth night, we returned to the hotel quite late to. Other than that, it was worth every penny. We found this hotel online, and read mixed reviews, but decided to stay because of the location and the cheap price we found. Also, because this place is budget friendly, it tends to attract a lot of famalies with small children, and they can be very noisy early in the morning, and late at night (Old Man shakes fist lol). The negatives from my perspective was that the parking lot spaces are tiny, so if your car is of average size it can be a bit of a pickle unloading all of your stuff, and just parking for that matter. The hotel was clean, the staff was great and it was close to the beach for about half the price that people at the luxury hotels near by were paying. The staff was top knotch, and they accomadated all of our request. Just to note, it's actually a block from the beach, but still very close. It's also close to the Pocahontas Pancake house which is always a treat. It's on the quieter north end of the beach which was appealing. I did my research and found this gem of a hotel. I'm from the area so I knew how ridiculously expensive the prices can get, especially around holidays. I'm more of a budget conscious traveler and it's more about the expereince than ameneties for me. I usually stay in Downtown Norfolk, and drive in which is about twenty minutes away, but my Signifigant other wanted to stay closer to the Ocean Front on this trip.
